Introduction

Welcome to the website of ESPA 2010, the 7th Congress on Electronic Structure: Principles and Applications (ESPA) that will be held in Oviedo (Principality of Asturias – Spain) from from June 29th to July 2nd, 2010.
The first editions of this series were held in Miraflores de la Sierra (Madrid) in 1998, under the name "Workshop on Computational Chemistry", and in San Sebastian ("Electronic Structure: Prediction and Applications", 2000). The success of these workshops encouraged the Spanish Theoretical and Computational Chemistry community to consolidate these activities as periodic events, organized every two years. The present name "Electronic Structure: Principles and Applications (ESPA)" was first given to the conference held in Sevilla (2002). Subsequent editions were organized by the University of Valladolid (2004), the University of Santiago de Compostela (2006), and the University of Illes Balears (2008).

The conference covers all topics in the field of Theoretical and Computational Chemistry. Contributions on theoretical and methodological aspects, as well as on applications are welcome. These include, but are not limited to, ground and excited states electronic and molecular structure, dynamics, condensed phases, bio- and chemoinformatics, chemical reactivity, etc.

We hope that besides the interesting scientific contacts, you will find some time before, during or after the Conference to enjoy the hospitality, historical richness and beauty of Asturias and its capital, Oviedo. We hope to meet you in Oviedo on June 29th to July 2nd 2010..
ESPA 2010 Focus:

This edition will focus on:
Theory, Methods, and Foundations: Future tools, chemical bonding, high performance computing and multiscale simulations.
Theoretical Chemistry and Material Science: Bulk & Surface properties, materials design, nanotechnology, supramolecular chemistry.
Advanced Applications: Excited states and dynamics, reactivity, challenges in Biomolecular systems.

Organized by: Universidad de Oviedo.
